Review Policy
What we accept, what we reject, and how moderation works.
Every review is read by a person
Nothing appears automatically. When you submit a review it goes into a queue and a moderator reads it, usually within 48 hours.
To review a provider you must
- Be signed in through Steam. We use Steam because it is a real account with a history behind it, and it is much harder to mass-produce than an email address.
- Have actually hosted a server with that provider.
- Write at least 150 characters. "Good host" helps nobody.
- Score all five categories.
You can leave one review per provider. If your experience changes materially, contact us and we will update it rather than let you stack scores.
What we reject
- Reviews from the provider or its competitors. We check.
- Incentivised reviews — anything written for a discount, free month or prize.
- Abuse or harassment, including naming individual support staff.
- Claims we cannot square with the evidence. If you say a host stole money, we will ask you for the ticket reference before we publish it.
- Reviews about something else — your ISP, your own misconfiguration, or the game's own bugs.
- Duplicates and near-duplicates from the same person.
We do not reject a review for being negative. A rejected review always has a reason recorded against it.
What we do about suspicious patterns
Accounts created days before leaving a review are flagged for a closer look. So are bursts of reviews for one provider in a short window. Flagging is not rejection — plenty of new accounts are genuine — but it does mean a moderator reads it harder.
Right of reply
A provider who believes a review is false can contact us with evidence. We will investigate. We will not remove a review simply because it is unflattering, and we will tell the reviewer that a complaint was made.
