Rust Server Hosting

Rust server hosting compared by players who actually wiped a server every week. Performance, entity counts, mod support and support quality.

The only aim in Rust is to survive. Everything wants you to die - the island’s wildlife, other inhabitants, the environment, and other survivors. Do whatever it takes to last another night.

Choosing a host for Rust

  • Map size drives memory more than player count does. A 4500 map with 100 players is a very different machine from a 3000 map with 50.
  • Wipe day is the real test: check whether the host can handle a fresh map generation without a long outage.
  • Oxide/Carbon plugin support and how quickly the host updates after a Facepunch patch are worth more than a small price difference.

The providers below are ranked by the people who actually pay them. Scores come only from reviews we have read and approved — a provider with no reviews yet sits below one with a real score rather than above it.

Frequently asked questions

Plan for 8 GB minimum on a small map, and 16 GB or more for a 4000+ map size with a full population.

Usually yes on paper, and often not in practice. A VPS gives you more raw resource per pound, but you own the updates, the firewall, the backups and the 2am restart. Managed game hosting is worth the premium unless you actually want to be a sysadmin.

Every review is written by someone signed in through Steam, and read by our staff before it appears. We do not accept reviews from providers, and we never edit a score.
