It has been privately held since it was founded by two former Microsoft employees, and is unusual in the industry for having no conventional management structure. Its multiplayer titles — Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead — are among the longest-running community server ecosystems in PC gaming, which is why so many hosts still offer them.
